Deputy Director, Finance and Administration

Dan leads the Agency’s administrative support functions, including Budget and Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Contracting, Program Integrity and Investigations, and Facilities and Fleet Management.   

Prior to joining the Agency, Dan worked for seven years as the Finance Director for Alameda County Social Services.  Earlier still, he worked as the Deputy Administrator for the Oregon Senior and Disabled Services Division and as Director of Business Services for the Multnomah County (Portland, Oregon) Health Department.  

Dan received a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Columbia University and a Master’s degree in Statistics and Operations Research from NYU. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Columbia College.

CalFresh issues monthly benefits on an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card, similar to an ATM card, to purchase food at retail stores and farmers markets that accept EBT cards.

The monthly benefit amount is based on a person's or household's income, expenses, and household size.
