CalFresh Video Transcript - English
Welcome to CalFresh, California’s food stamps program that provides extra money for food for low- or no-income individuals and households to purchase nutritious food. CalFresh is known federally as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
CalFresh issues monthly benefits on an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card, similar to an ATM card, to purchase food at retail stores and farmers markets that accept EBT cards.
The monthly benefit amount is based on a person's or household's income, expenses, and household size. CalFresh doesn’t affect your immigration status or your sponsor.
You can use CalFresh at participating farmers’ markets.
Market Match Doubles Your CalFresh Food Dollars. For every CalFresh dollar you spend, you'll receive an additional dollar to spend on fruits and vegetables at a participating farmers' market. Most markets offer a $15 match and some even more depending on the market.
