What is TADP?

The San Francisco Human Services Agency’s (HSA) Temporary Assistance for Displaced Persons (TADP) may provide financial assistance to eligible residents that have been displaced because of a residential fire and/or an order to vacate a residence issued by either the San Francisco Fire Department or Department of Building Inspection.

How Does TADP Work?

  • For those eligible, the TADP pays financial assistance directly to the new temporary landlord.
  • The program participant uses this financial assistance to cover the difference between the tenant's previous rent amount and the cost to rent a comparable unit at the current market rate.
  • The subsidy may last up to one (1) year or until you can return to your repaired permanent address, whichever happens first.
  • Tenants in units damaged by a fire must have the right to move back in once repairs are completed.
  • If the unit is not rent-controlled, TADP may offer eligible tenants a one-time cash aid payment to help them relocate to a new home, which TADP will pay directly to the new landlord after the tenant has found a new residence.
