Steps to get CAAP

    How to apply

    Apply online at BenefitsCal or call (833) 879-1365. Note: BenefitsCal’s new two-step verification process makes your account more secure. View how to verify.

    Schedule Intake interview

    A worker will contact you to schedule the Initial Intake interview by phone.  

  3. 3

    Get interviewed

    • Attend a phone interview for the Initial Intake. If eligible, you can receive your benefits as soon as the next day.
    • Your intake worker will send you documents to sign and mail, email, fax or drop off.
    • You may also need to submit income and residency verification to continue receiving aid. You'll have up to one month (after the application due date) to submit the required documents by mail, fax, email or drop-off at our Service Center at 1235 Mission Street.
    • All CAAP applicants and recipients must undergo an Employability determination.
